Advanced Open Water Diver Course

Why Become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver?

You don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed to advance your diving so you can start right after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. The course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving.

In the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, you’ll get to build your skills while experiencing new underwater environments during scuba Adventure Dives. You’ll get to conduct up to six different dives all under the expert guidance of your PADI Instructor. No formal classroom session, just a lot of diving. The course is focused on the Adventure Dives that you’ll do – typically Boat Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy Diver, Underwater Navigation Diver, and Wreck Diver.

After your Adventure Dives, you’ll be more experienced, feel more comfortable in the water, and simply enjoy diving more because you better understand the underwater environment.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of two main phases:

  • • Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving.
    • Open Water Adventure Dives off of one of our US Coast Guard certified boats to use your skills and explore!

PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Requirements

To enroll in the PADI Advanced Open Water course, you must have the PADI Open Water Diver certification or PADI Junior Open Water certification (or a qualifying certification from another agency). PADI Junior Open Water Divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – check with your PADI Instructor. You need adequate swimming skills and be in good physical health.
